The Trip,
The morning started early with Mike meeting his anglers at the dock just as dawn's
sun rays were illuminating the bottoms of clouds in hues of purple & orange in the
eastern sky.
Soon after the lines were cast off and we began the 20 min run thru a maze of islands.
The water was glassy that morning & as the sky became brighter & the morning mist rose,
if not for the greens & browns of the small islands breaking up the reflection on the
water it would be hard to determine where the sky stopped & the water began. Soon we
passed thru the last cut & were skimming across the open waters of the lagoon. This did
not last long, as Capt. Mike rounded a small island & shut down.
Rods were quickly readied and the 2 anglers stepped up on the bow-
Mike climbed up on the platform to silently pole into the small slough that lay ahead.
The hunt was on!! A few minutes later Capt. Mike spotted the school of reds as their tails
broke the surface.
The catch was on!! |
